BASMONT, il fut construit en 1669 par Germain Ricœur, maître de forges, l’un des premiers industriels de la région. Le château du Basmont, intégré dans le domaine de la Marjolaine, à Moulay, à trois kilomètres de Mayenne, vient d’être entièrement restauré par son propriétaire, Jean-Marie Chapin Celui-ci invite le public à le visiter, le tout au profit de l’association France-Alzheimer.
Architecture
BASMONT, comme la Marjolaine "hôtel", construction rectangulaire à deux niveaux toit en croupes avec série de lucarnes sur combles recouvert d'ardoises, les deux édifices sont prolongés sur les flancs droit et gauche par des prolongement d'un niveau en retour d'équerre. Habité depuis cinq ans, il prenait l’eau, se délabrait à vue d’œil, se souvient Jean-Marie Chapin. À part la façade, tous les murs ont été écroulés avant d’être rebâtis. On en a profité pour l’agrandir et rétablir sa symétrie. Charpente et toiture ont aussi été refaites à neuf. Bien qu’il ne soit pas classé M.H., seulement inscrit, le château a bénéficié d’une restauration « dans les règles de l’art », insiste Jean-Marie Chapin. À l’intérieur, des salles de séminaire, une salle de billard français, un hammam, un jacuzzi, une salle de sport et dix chambres d’hôtel.
